In the past some people were concerned about the health of these short-legged cats.
Dr. Solveig Pflueger, TICA’S chief geneticist, found out during 10 years of research that there are no health problems or complications connected with cats’ short legs gene, and that these Munchkin kittens are totally healthy. Just the opposite is true – because these are cross between two breeds, there is no inbreeding involved and these kittens are very healthy.

We purchased our British Shorthair, Dallas, from Melody British Shorthair Cattery in December 2019 and had the most wonderful experience. We first heard about Jerry Tomilosn through a close family friend who had adopted their British Shorthair, Jackson, a few years earlier. Once we decided we wanted a British Shorthair of our own, we reached out to Jerry and arranged to “meet” our new family member the day after Thanksgiving. It was love at first sight.
